AP Oil & Gas Ltd Ghana | Ebony Oil and Gas

“Africa Petroleum” – AP Oil & Gas Ltd
AP has a rich history and origins as being incorporated as British Petroleum (“BP”) of Africa in 1964 in Nigeria and after a series of transformation and regional expansions, entered the Ghanaian Market in 2008. In 2019, Kudu Capital principals acquired 100% of AP subsidiary in Ghana, rebranding and repositioning it as a vertically integrated downstream business in synergy with Ebony Oil and Gas Ltd, a sister portfolio company within the Kudu group.
AP specializes in the distribution and marketing of petroleum products across Ghana. Our product offerings include petrol, diesel, and related fuels and services, catering to a wide range of clients through B2B channels to industrial companies and last-mile businesses. As part of our growth strategy, we are also expanding into the lubricants market with a strategic partnership with Ardova PLC (“AP” Nigeria) as the sole marketer of AP Branded lubricants in Ghana.
With support from Kudu Capital AG, African Petroleum has been able to form a structural competitive advantage as a full indigenous company thereby benefitting from legislating supporting indigenous companies in the bulk supply of petroleum products to the mining, oil & gas and other industrial sectors of the Ghanaian economy.
A word from Yahaya Yunusa
Managing partner
“Kudu Capital AG has been instrumental in founding and growing our business. Their working capital in early 2024 allowed us to secure products and scale operations. They also provided HR and legal resources, and regular support on strategy from the Director Michael Kumah.
We currently employ 15 direct staff and 30 indirect workers, with plans for growth as we expand. Our products fuel numerous individuals and businesses across Ghana, contributing to the local economy.
Despite the fragmented market, we are confident in our trajectory. In our first year, we’ve launched five retail stations and are on track to secure additional B2B contracts. These initial wins will serve as a foundation for continued growth and future success.”

Let’s hear from Kwame Peprah
Ebony General Manager
Ebony is a very well respected and reputable bulk importer in Ghana and Kudu Capital AG has done a sterling Job in shaping the direction of this company over the years; Since inception, Ebony has witnessed 3 very large and reputable offshore investors successfully entering and exiting the capital structure of the company (Oando, Vitol and Helios) and Kudu Capital has been ever present and consistent in growing the business with our partners.
Kudu Capital’s acquisition of AP in 2019, coupling it with Ebony to form a fully integrated downstream Oil company now presents a new frontier of opportunities for Ebony, in terms of securing direct access to long term supply clients from the AP synergies. This will in turn provide long term supply contracts that can be planned, managed and leveraged better with our offshore supply partners.
The next few years will be very interesting and exciting for the company in terms of continued growth and market share.
